Who we are

Hilary and Zoe are mother and daughter, together they have established and created Nicolls.

Both are Glasgow School of Art Fine Art graduates in Environmental Art. This training has influenced the evolving nature of Nicolls where ‘context is everything’ and informs the ethos of the space and its present-day function.

Hilary has worked in social action broadcasting and Arts education. She previously was an independent studio provider of creative studio spaces.

After retraining in advertising and PR, Zoe has worked in PR and Comms agencies. She also runs her own online gift and homeware brand.

Their recent artistic collaborations ‘Total Strangers’ exhibition documented and traced the work of local Victorian Studio photography and the installation ‘Shall I be Mother’ celebrated the women tea pickets during the Great Rent Strike of 1914.

Both continue to explore their own creative practice.
