Group exhibition:

Alison Corfield, Alistair  Hamilton and Ian McKinnell

16 - 22 October 2023

Surface : Light, Colour & Texture runs 16-22nd October 2023

Alison Corfield, Alistair  Hamilton and Ian McKinnell lives and work in South West Scotland. Although they each work in quite different ways, attention to surface is a vein that runs through the works shown here and informs their individual practice – hence the title. “Light, colour, texture” make up the palette and the equivalent of an artist’s sketch book. From observations of these three elements and a little artistic interpretation, abstract impressionistic works are created, whilst remaining true to nature.

Lisa Woolley

Solo Exhibition : Am I Still Here?

24 -27 August 2023

Artist Lisa Woolley is our next artist in the gallery. Her show, 'Am I Still Here' is new work from the artist, and we love the poignant concept behind the work. The show opens this Thursday 24th and runs until Sunday 27th of August.

‘Am I Still Here’ evolved from a simple line drawing of a perfume bottle which belonged to the artist's mother.

The first painting based on this drawing was called Pauline’s Iris, 2020. In May 2023, while working on
an artist residency at Cove Park, Argyll & Bute, she returned to examine the shape of the perfume bottle.

Using her yoga practice to help move into a meditative state, she was able to connect with the emotions and significance of the perfume bottle. Using this energy in her making, the first series of monoprints and the related painting became an internal reflection on grief.

Later, a second set of work was made based on the original object. Lisa’s focus is now on how the form
develops and changes with each new image becoming more abstract, sometimes sculptural, and sometimes embracing new forms.
